The Partner Visa Subclass 309 allows partners of Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens to live, work, and study in Australia temporarily while their permanent Partner visa is being processed.

◉ Work in any occupation and for any employer

◉ Ability to apply for a permanent Partner visa once eligible




Eligibility Criteria:


To be eligible for this visa, you must:

◉ Be in a genuine relationship with your spouse or de facto partner who is an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen
◉ Have your spouse or de facto partner sponsor you
◉ Be outside Australia when you apply for this visa
◉ Have family members who apply with you be outside Australia when you apply
◉ Be in or outside Australia when we decide your temporary visa application


As a Partner Visa Subclass 309 holder, you cannot:


◉ Work in a job that requires Australian citizenship or permanent residency
◉ Access certain government benefits or services
◉ Stay in Australia indefinitely without applying for a permanent visa
◉ eave and re-enter Australia without a valid travel authorization
